The Groenewalds of Ezeljact (J.W. Groenewald) |
- In the family journal "The Groenewalds of Ezeljact" written by J.W. Groenewald, we are told that Jacobus married twice and had 6 children.
Jacobus himself, probably had an affluent childhood, as his dad Christoffel Groenewald had married a rich widow from an influential family by the name of Anna Hasselaar.
He had several farms and built several houses.
His favourite farm seems to have been Bersicht, (as he kept this property when he sold the others) and the original farm buildings built by him in 1771 have been restored.
He was the proud owner of this magnificent farm for 21 years.
It now belongs to the University of Stellenbosch.
